Questions parents ask
Does my child need experience to be in the musical?
No. While there is a limit to the number of students we can safely fit on the stage, we do our best to have as many students involved in the production as possible. Auditions sort out who plays what.
Is there a fee?
No. Drama class and the musical are both free.
My kid is shy. Is this going to be miserable for them?
There's always a job that isn't standing center stage. Lighting, sound, stage management, and set design are real theatre work, and in my room they count the same as a lead.
What does my child need to bring?
Comfortable clothes they can move in and sit on the floor in, their script and a pencil. There is always some downtime in rehearsals, so a book or some homework is always good to have!
How much time does the musical take?
Rehearsals run from January through performance week. Exact days and times go out with the cast list and stay on the calendar on this page, but in general we rehearse two days a week from 3:45 to 5:30. The calendar will specify which characters are needed for each rehearsal. Tech week is the week before the show, and that's the one week I need everybody there.
Where do I find the cast list?
It goes up on this page in late January. Students open it with their CPS account, the same login they use at school.
How can I help?

Can I take pictures at the show?
Take all the pictures you want of your own kid. Please don't post other people's children on social media.
The cast list
The cast list goes up here in late January. Students open it with their CPS account, the same login they use for school email. It doesn't sit on a public page and search engines can't index it. The link stays the same every year, so it's worth bookmarking once.
